EVELYN PEÑA COMAS, flute

was born in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. She studied at the Rotterdam Conservatory, the University of Music and Performing Arts of Stuttgart, the University of Music and Performing Arts of Graz and at the Music and Arts University of Vienna.
She was awarded for her “Artistic Achievements“ at the Dominican National Youth Awards 2013 and awarded by the Presidency of the Dominican Republic for her “Artistic Achievements” in Germany in 2011.  She is prize winner at the music competition “6. Fidelio Wettbewerb” of Vienna, the “Fine Arts Award 2000” at the Interlochen Summer Academy and first prize at the Flute Competition “Concurso de Interpretación Musical” organised by UNESCO and the dominican music council.
As a soloist she performed repeatedly with the Leipziger Symphonieorchester, Junge Philharmonie Wien,  Wiener Tonkunstvereinigung, Cibao Philharmonic Orchestra, Capella Santo Domingo and the Dominican National Youth Orchestra.
She has been appointed principal flute of the Leipziger Symphonieorchester and of the Tiroler Symphonieorchester Innsbruck. In 2010 she won the academy flute position  at the Duisburg Philharmic Orchestra. She has been invited to play in the Wiener Symphoniker, Stuttgart Philharmonic, the Radio Symphony Orchestra ORF-RSO Wien, the orchestra of the Theater of Baden and the orchestra of the X Santo Domingo Music Festival.
In 2009 records Luigi Nono`s Epitaffio no.2 “y su sangre ya viene cantando” accompanied by the Junge Philharmonie Wien orchestra. In 2013 and 2016 she recieved the nomination in the category “outstanding classical artist performing overseas“  at the “Premios Soberanos” Arts Awards.Since 2013 is member of Ensemble Spirituosi.
